Ampito, Official Technology Partner of the Pata Prometeon Yamaha WorldSBK Team, is proud to be announced as the Title Partner for the team’s FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship entry with top Spanish rider Beatriz Neila.
Ahead of the opening test for the WorldWCR riders in Cremona, Italy this week, Neila’s team name has been revealed as Ampito / Pata Prometeon Yamaha to reflect her alignment with Yamaha’s Official WorldSBK Team and teammates Jonathan Rea and Andrea Locatelli.
The 22-year-old law student from Madrid has switched gears to focus on her racing career this season, and recently achieved podium results at the Spanish national R7 Cup series competing on similar machinery in preparation for the World Championship as part of a busy training programme. After winning four back-to-back Women’s European Championship titles from 2020-2023, Neila hopes her dedication to her craft will help her see success at the top of the brand new WorldWCR series.
That same unrelenting passion and ambition drew attention from Ampito, who see Neila as a pioneer and role model standing out in a sport that has been traditionally predominantly male - her story and path resonating with Ampito’s innovative, people-centric IT company.
Manny Pinon – Founder, Ampito Group: “As a company at the forefront of IT innovation, we recognise the power of diverse perspectives and the strength they bring to any field. Beatriz's story is one of relentless pursuit and unwavering spirit, qualities that resonate deeply with us at Ampito. Her achievements in the European Women’s Championship are not just victories on the track; they are milestones in the movement towards greater diversity and representation. Supporting Beatriz in the World Championship is more than an investment in talent; it is a commitment to fostering an environment where every individual has the opportunity to excel, irrespective of gender. We eagerly anticipate the evolution of the series and are honoured to stand by Beatriz as she races towards podiums, victories, and the world title, breaking barriers and setting new benchmarks for women in sports and beyond.”
Exclusive Q&A – Beatriz Neila, Ampito / Pata Prometeon Yamaha
Hola Beatriz! You start the brand-new FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship as the reigning European Women’s Champion four years back to back – how do you feel?
“I feel super happy to be involved in this new championship with Ampito and the Pata Prometeon Yamaha team, it is amazing. I was searching for a long time for something like the WorldWCR – something to show the world what women can do on a motorbike at a top level. I’ve trained a lot to be ready, with and without my bike, in the gym, with my coach. I hope to have a lot of fun, to learn a lot, to improve. That’s my goal!”
How would you like the WorldWCR to develop? “This championship has been created, I feel, to remain for a long time. It’s a great opportunity for female riders, so I hope it opens the doors for a lot of young girls, new sponsors and teams. I think in a few years, WorldWCR will be a really important championship category, like in MotoGP or WorldSBK; with WorldSSP, WorldSSP300 for example.”
Will your previous Yamaha experience help this season? “The R7 is new for me this year, but I’ve trained with it for a few months now and I love it. I think it’s a good bike for all of us so, I’m really happy to be using it. I think there will be some great racing!”
Tell us a bit about your life outside of racing… “This is my final year of studying law at the ISDE - Higher Institute of Law and Economics in Madrid, but I want to focus on my career in the WorldWCR and this is the priority for me in 2024. I want to be a professional rider – I love law and studying it, but this year it’s full gas on the bike for me!”
What does racing mean to you? “Racing makes me feel happy. When I put my helmet on I’m always smiling, because I love it so much. I have two lives, my ‘normal’ life which is studying law, and my second life is my racing career. I feel like a new person when I race. I say to myself that ‘you love it, enjoy it’!”
What is your favourite moment in your career so far? “In 2023, I won three times with Yamaha, the second round was in Valencia and I took pole position and won both races. In the second race I changed the power map before the last lap and beat the best lap by nearly two second, so it was amazing.”
Do you have a pre-race routine? “When I am getting ready, I always take some time to stretch and prepare my body for 30 minutes before the start – and I always put my right leg in my suit first and get on the bike from the right side, similar to Valentino Rossi!”
Who are your racing heroes? “To me, everyone in a race from first to last is amazing, because it’s not an easy sport. My father Carlos is my hero though, he is such an important part of my life and my greatest supporter.”
What is your favourite motorcycle? “My current favourite is the Yamaha R7! I have tried the R1 too, but the R7 is just right for my weight, my size, it’s perfect. I don’t ride on the road – yet! – because racing is my focus.”
And, your favourite circuit? “That’s a tough question! Valencia, Portimão and Misano would be on my dream calendar for sure, they are all fantastic tracks.”
Thank you, Beatriz! We wish you the best of luck for testing this week and can’t wait to see you in action with Ampito / Pata Prometeon Yamaha at Misano in Italy for the opening round of the championship from 14-16 June next month.
